The Story of Stella

I had been trying to work with Carrie from Type A Society for quite a while, but quickly realized that sending stuff across the U.S border is no joke!, so that plan had to be put on hold for a bit.

She messaged me in the spring, asking if I’d like to send some product to a shoot she was styling in Scotland with D’Arcy Benincosa and the Path Workshop. It read something like, ‘we are doing an old world shoot and an Outlander inspired shoot, have you heard of that?’ For those of you who know me, you realize my eyes bugged out of my head, OUTLANDER?!?! So of course, the discussion quickly translated into me personally escorting these rings to Scotland (which happens to be one of my most favourite places on earth), because of course, I needed to see all this in action! Plus no more border issues thank you very much…

When I dreamt up the old world/new world collection, a central focus was the use of antique points, and what could be better to design around than the stunning asymmetrical pear shape! Stella was born out of that conversation.

I secretly adore all things vintage and antique, and I’m sure you see that show up in elements of my designs. It was a dream come true to use Scotland as an inspiration to create a collection based on intricate, over the top, old world creations with the modern twist needed to suit our world in 2018.

Modernizing Stella was easy for me, the delicacy of her 1mm rose gold band, contrasting this beautiful super-star pulls it all together. Of course I couldn’t just leave her base plain, and it sort of looked liked spider-webs prior to this detail (that’s just gross!) So I rounded her out with a beautiful base of diamonds, hovering slightly above the delicate band.

The minute I saw her, I fell totally in love, and I absolutely will be making one for my personal collection, something about her just takes my breath away.
